Westchester Knicks News Release
UNIONDALE, NY - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, came together collectively in the fourth quarter to make things interesting but were unable to push through falling, 119-106 to the Long Island Nets Wednesday afternoon at NYCB LIVE's Nassau Coliseum.
After falling victim to an 18-point halftime hole, 70-52, and 19-point deficit at the end of the third, the Knicks (4-8) dwindled the Long Island advantage to just eight at 4:19, 108-100, the closest they came within the hosts since 5:27 into the game. The fourth quarter rally slotting Westchester back within single figures was a team effort as seven Knicks-Andrew White III (3), Kadeem Allen (3), Ivan Rabb (2), Zak Irvin (2), Tim Bond (2), VJ King (2) Lamar Peters (2)-scored in the near eight minute span.
Following a charge committed by Long Island's (3-10) Henry Ellenson, Allen sank a floater on the help from Peters seeing Westchester down just six to end a 20-7 fourth quarter run. Four straight points for the Nets pushed the foe back up 10 with under three minutes to play and after two-point possessions traded by both clubs, the Nets continued to coast until the final horn sounded.
After setting and tying his career-high three times, Peters drained a new superlative six threes on 60-percent shooting en route to his team-high 25 points, his fifth 20-point game. Peters also tallied a team-high nine dimes.
Rabb, a Two-Way player, led the Knicks on the boards for a sixth straight time with a career-high 14 rebounds. For his team-leading fourth double-double of the season, he added 20 points. Tim Bond contributed a season-high 13 points of the bench which White III matched.
For the Nets, Jaylen Hands posted a game-high 28 points on 47.6-percent and a team-best five helpers. Devin Cannady had 19 points which included five treys.
The Knicks outscored the Nets 54-49 in the second half and 24-18 in the fourth quarter. Both teams shot the ball at 43-percent from the floor and drained 15 triples.
Westchester travels to the Greensboro Swarm Saturday, December 14 for a 7:00 PM ET tipoff.
