Sacramento River Cats News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Local hero and Sacramento State University student Anthony Sadler will join the Sacramento River Cats tomorrow, Friday, September 4, for Superhero Night at Raley Field. Sadler, who was recently bestowed with France's highest national award for his role in preventing the Thalys train attack, will throw out tomorrow night's ceremonial first pitch and be honored on the field during the game for his heroic actions.
While vacationing in Europe earlier this month, Sadler and two of his friends took action to take down an alleged gunman aboard a passenger train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris, France. Sadler and his two friends, National Guard Specialist Alek Skarlatos and Airman Spencer Stone, as well as another man, British businessman Chris Norman, were awarded France's Legion of Honor by French President Francois Hollande. The award is the nation's highest and most prestigious honor.
The 23-year-old Sadler, who returned home to Sacramento early last week, will attend tomorrow night's River Cats game. Fittingly, tomorrow night is Superhero Night at Raley Field, and Sadler will throw out the game's ceremonial first pitch, as well as be recognized on the field during the game with a special honor.
Tomorrow night's game is the final Friday game of the season, and will feature the River Cats as they host the Albuquerque Isotopes (Colorado Rockies) at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for the game are still available and can be purchased by visiting rivercats.com or calling the River Cats ticket hotline at 916-371-HITS (4487).
