SACRAMENTO - Pinch-hitter Trevor Brown hit a two-out, two-run walk-off home run to lift the Sacramento River Cats over the Reno Aces (@Aces), 5-4, Wednesday night at Raley Field.

The home run from Brown came just moments after Nick Evans snapped a 2-2 tie in the top of the ninth with his own two-run homer.

Brown's shot was the second home run for Sacramento in the ninth. Mac Williamson drilled the first pitch he saw from Aces right-hander Seth Simmons (@SizzleSimmons95) over the left field wall to trim the deficit to 4-3.

Simmons bounced back and retired the next two hitters to put the Aces on the brink of a victory. Catcher Ben Turner hit a slow roller up the third base line to reach on an infield single to keep the game alive.

Simmons missed with his first pitch to Brown, who then sent the next offering from Simmons off the left-field foul pole for the walk-off winner.

Reno started the scoring in the first inning when Mike Freeman (@MikeBFree5) rifled a one-out base hit up the middle, then stole second with Evans at the plate. Evans wasn't wasting any time with a runner in scoring position when he sent a base hit into left field to score Freeman and give the Aces a 1-0 lead.

It stayed 1-0 until the River Cats broke through against Aces starter Archie Bradley (@ArchieBradley7) in the third. Bradley's counterpart, Edwin Quirarte, lined a double to the gap in left-center and came around to score on a two-out single by Jeff Kobernus.

Sacramento jumped in front in the fourth when Brandon Hicks lined a solo homer just over the left field wall to make it a 2-1 game. It was the second home run for Hicks in as many nights.

Quirarte was finished after four innings in favor of reliever Brett Bochy. Bochy worked around a two-out single by Evans in the fifth, but couldn't follow suit in the sixth.

On the second pitch of the sixth, Peter O'Brien launched a Bochy offering out to deep left field for a game-tying solo home run. It was the 25th home run of the year for O'Brien who sits just one behind teammate Jamie Romak.

Bradley worked seven strong innings one night after Aaron Blair went eight. He allowed two runs on seven hits, did not walk a batter, and racked up seven strikeouts in a no-decision.

The home run from Evans completed a four-hit night for the first baseman, his third of the season. He also knocked in three runs to bring his season RBI total to 93.

Blake Lalli (@BlakeLalli) and Danny Worth added multi-hit games for the Aces who out-hit the River Cats, 12-10 in the loss.

The series finale between Reno and Sacramento is set for Thursday night at Raley Field. Right-hander Jhoulys Chacin (5-3, 3.39) starts for the Aces against right-hander Chris Stratton (3-5, 4.01) for the River Cats. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

The Aces return home for the final five games of the season on Friday, September 4 when they host El Paso. Group outings are on-sale now at www.RenoAces.com or by calling (775) 334-4700.
