
Zephyrs Ninth Inning Rally Falls Short, Lose 3-2

MEMPHIS, TN - Vinny Rottino ripped a ninth inning home run and the Zephyrs sent seven batters to the plate in a ninth inning rally, but fall short 3-2 at AutoZone Park in Memphis.
The Redbirds take three of four in the series and improve to 70-70. Memphis scored the games first run with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. The Birds added to the lead in the seventh inning when the pitcher drew a walk. Scott McGough attempted to pick him off and a throwing error allowed him to sprint to third, a second error by Rottino allowed the run to score.
Memphis added a third run in the eighth inning when Jeremy Hazelbaker drilled a hit into centerfield that sailed over the head of Issac Galloway and allowed Rafael Ortega to score.
In the ninth the Z's got the lead-off home run and for hits in the inning but fall short. Trevor Williams took the defeat for the New Orleans. The Z's fall to 56-84 on the year. Memphis reliever Chris Thomas earned the win and Dean Kiekhefer earned the save.
GAME NOTES
The Zephyrs have dropped 84 games for only the third time in franchise history, joining 1996 (58-84) and 1999 (55-85).
Brady Shoemaker picked up a eighth inning hit to extend his hitting streak to eight games.

The Zephyrs continue their final roadtrip of the season on Friday as the Z's head to Colorado Springs for the final series. The Zephyrs will take on Sky Sox at 8:05.
