Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release
LAKEWOOD, NJ - Ethan Lindow gave up one unearned run in six innings as the BlueClaws won their third straight game since an 0-3 start, topping Hagerstown 6-3 on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Park.
Lakewood (3-3) levels their record after beginning the season with three straight defeats while the Suns fall to 1-5.
The BlueClaws opened the scoring in the third inning scoring three runs with the help of two Tomas Alastre wild pitches. One scored Alec Bohm to put the BlueClaws up 1-0 and the second scored Malvin Matos to make it 2-0 BlueClaws.
Abrahan Gutierrez, who had four hits in his first two starts, added an RBI single to give Lakewood a 3-0 lead.
Lindow came out after five innings, allowing an unearned run while striking out six.
Lakewood added two more runs in the fifth keyed by a leadoff walk to Malvin Matos and double by Matt Kroon. Jake Holmes reached on an error, which allowed one to score, and the second scored on a double-play grounder from Abrahan Gutierrez.
Suns starter Tomas Alastre (0-1) gave up five runs, four earned, in four-plus innings of work. He struck out three and walked four.
Hagerstown's Jose Sanchez hit a two-run double in the 7th to cut the lead to 5-3, but Colton Eastman struck out the next three hitters on three pitches apiece to close the door.
Eastman, the Opening Night starter, earned the save with four innings of strong relief.
Alec Bohm had two hits in the win for the BlueClaws and has five in the last two days.
The teams finish their series on Wednesday night at 6:35 pm. RHP Tyler McKay starts for Lakewood opposite LHP Tim Cate.
