Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

WINNIPEG, MB - Wednesday night's series finale between the Winnipeg Goldeyes (32-26) and the St. Paul Saints (40-19) was called in the bottom second due to lightning in the area. The Saints were leading 3-0.

The game was postponed after a rain delay that lasted one hour and 32 minutes. The game will resume when the Saints return to Shaw Park on Monday, August 15. Opening pitch for the conclusion of the nine-inning game is set for 5:30 p.m., and the teams will play a seven-inning game afterwards.

Tickets for the rained-out game can be exchanged for any other game later this season.

The Saints opened the scoring early, taking a 2-0 lead when Willie Argo singled to left with the bases loaded to drive in Alonzo Harris and Breland Almadova. The Goldeyes put up a double and a walk to send runners to first and second in the bottom first, but the Saints kept the game scoreless and extended their lead to 3-0 with back-to-back doubles in the top second.

Winnipeg starter Duke von Schamann gave up three earned runs on four hits through the two innings, and St. Paul starter Mark Hamburger gave up one hit and walked one in the bottom first.

The Goldeyes will depart for Kansas City later tonight, where they will open a six-game road trip with the first of three against the T-Bones. Left-hander Ethan Carnes (4-1, 3.52) is set to take the mound for the Goldeyes, while right-hander Jarred Messer (3-1, 3.85) will start for the T-Bones.
