TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled goaltenders Cedrick Desjardins ( dayge-ar-DAN) and Kristers Gudlevskis ( g-d-LEV-skeez) from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced.
Desjardins, 28, has appeared in 20 games with the Crunch this season, posting a record of 5-10-2 to go along with a 2.78 goals-against average and .902 save percentage. The 6-foot, 203-pound goaltender was recalled to Tampa Bay on January 6 and did not see any game action. He appeared in his 200th career AHL contest on December 28 against the Norfolk Admirals. In 202 career AHL games, Desjardins has compiled a record of 100-71-17.
The Edmundston, New Brunswick native has played in five career NHL games, all with the Lightning, during the 2010-11 and 2012-13 seasons, notching a record of 2-3-0 with a 2.14 goals-against average and .926 save percentage.
He was acquired by the Lightning on February 14, 2013 from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for goaltender Dustin Tokarski.
Gudlevskis, 6-3, 205 pounds, leads the Crunch in games played with 21 in his first season in North America. His four shutouts lead Syracuse and are tied for the AHL lead. Gudlevskis has assembled a 10-8-2 record with a 2.78 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage. A native of Aizkraukle, Latvia, Gudlevskis was selected to represent his native country in the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. He played in four games during the 2013 IIHF World Championships, posting a 2-2-0 record with a 2.22 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
Gudlevskis, 21, was drafted by Tampa Bay in the fifth round, 124th overall, of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
