
Lexington Snaps Streak Led by Melendez 3-Run Homer

INTIMIDATORS STADIUM (Kannapolis, NC) - The Lexington Legends were able to hold on to an early lead over the Kannapolis Intimidators and take game two, 6-4. The Legends improve to 38-37 and the Intimidators drop to 43-32.
The Legends struck first in the top of the third inning. Cal Jones drew a walk then advanced to second on a single to left field by Cristian Perez. With runners at first and second, MJ Melendez blasted a three-run bomb to centerfield, and Lexington led 3-0.
The Intimidators plated their first runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Nolan Brown drew a leadoff walk. Craig Dedelow smashed a two-run homer to right field, putting Kannapolis on the board 3-2. Michael Hickman then drew another walk and moved to second on a single by Anthony Villa. Tyler Frost singled Hickman home, tying the game 3-3.
Dennicher Carrasco led off the top of the seventh inning with a double to center field. Carrasco moved to third on a fielder's choice by Sebastian Rivero. Ricky Aracena singled home Carrasco while moving Rivero to second. With runners at first and second, Jones hit a ground-rule double to left field scoring Rivero. Perez grounded out to the third baseman, allowing Aracena to score and the Legends led 6-3.
Kannnapolis scored their final run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Nolan Brown and Luis Curbelo reached on a back-to-back singles then Brown scored on a sacrifice fly to center field, but the Legends still led 6-4.
Collin Snider was awarded the win for the Legends tossing 0.2 of a shutout inning allowing four hits. Yefri Del Rosario pitched the first 5.2 innings allowing three runs on three hits while walking three and striking out four. Yosmer Solorzano was given the loss for Kannapolis throwing 6.1 innings allowing six runs on six hits while walking one and striking out four.
The Legends and Intimidators meet tomorrow, June 29 for the series finale at 7:05 p.m. Lexington will send RHP Carlos Hernandez (4-3, 5.05 ERA) to the mound and Kannapolis is TBD.
