GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Garvis Lara pounded out a season-high three hits, but it wasn't enough in Greensboro's 8-3 loss to Delmarva on Thursday night at First National Bank Field. The Grasshoppers (38-38, 4-3 Second Half) dropped their second straight game as the Shorebirds once again put up crooked numbers in multiple innings.

Both starters landed decisions as Delmarva's Brenan Hanifee (7-3) earned the win with 6.0 innings of work, allowing two runs on seven hits. Brandon Miller (2-7) suffered the loss for Kannapolis, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits including a pair of home runs.

Lara paced the Hoppers offense, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Delmarva added to its 1-0 lead with four runs in the third inning highlighted by Branden Becker's 2-run home run (2).

The Hoppers scored twice in the home half of the third to get on the board. Jose Devers laced an RBI-double to right field, scoring Garvis Lara. Will Allen added a 2-out RBI-single to cash Devers to cut Delmarva's lead to 5-2.

Will Robertson, who recorded a 5-hit game for the Shorebirds on Wednesday against the Grasshoppers, led off the sixth inning with a home run (5) as Delmarva went on to plate three in the frame for an 8-2 lead.

Thomas Jones' sacrifice fly in the seventh inning scored Rodrigo Ayarza to bring the game to its final score.

The Grasshoppers will play to avoid a series sweep on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the series finale against Delmarva are available online at gsohoppers.com.
