Augusta GreenJackets News Release
North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, split their doubleheader with the Greenville Drive on Thursday night.
The first game of the series was the resumption of the previous nights game that was suspended due to rain. The game started in the bottom of the fourth inning, with the GreenJackets up 1-0. Augusta would add one run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning to take a 3-0 lead.
The Drive would respond with a big inning in the seventh inning to take a 5-3 lead. Augusta would answer with one of their own to cut the lead to 5-4. Then in the bottom of the eighth inning, with a man on first base. Heliot Ramos hit a towering home run to left center field to give the GreenJackets the lead 6-5. Augusta would hold on in the top of the ninth inning to get the game one victory.
In game two, runs were scored early by both team, as the score was tied 3-3 after three innings. The RBIs for the GreenJackets came off the bats of Jacob Gonzalez, who hit in two, and Nick Hill.
The Drive would put up two in the top of the sixth inning to break the tie. That would end up being the final score, as the Drive won game two, 5-3.
The Finale of the series will be tomorrow at 7:05 pm between the Drive and GreenJackets.
On the 30th, the GreenJackets will welcome the Columbia Fireflires to town for a four game series. On Saturday June 30th, will have James Brown and Sharron Jones appreciation night. July 1st will have Hot Cars/ Hot Rods Car & Motor Show. On the 2nd, Mr./Ms. Most American Pageant/Celebration will be held at SRP Park. To wrap up the homestand, will have an Independence Day bash followed by a Fireworks Extravaganza.
