Rome Emperors News Release

Rome, GA - The Lexington Legends defeated the Rome Braves 3-1 on Tuesday night in front of 2,443 fans at State Mutual Stadium. Lexington starter, Tanner Bushue, pitched 5.1 perfect innings before a single from Jake Hanson ended the streak. Bushue pitched seven innings, giving up zero runs on three hits with five strikeouts.

Lexington took the early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Jacob Goebbert doubled and later scored on a Chris Curley throwing error. The Legends added another run in the second for the 2-0 score. After Jiovanni Mier walked and reached second on Miguel Arrendell's single, a Jose Altuve RBI base hit would plate the run. Back to back walks of Mier and Arrendell with two outs followed by an RBI single from Grant Hogue extended the Legends lead to 3-0 in the fourth.

Wander Alvino replaced Lexington's Bushue in the eighth inning and gave up a lead off home run to Hanson (3). That turned out to be the Braves' only run as the Legends held on for the 3-1 victory.

Tanner Bushue (5-5) earns the win for Lexington while Rome's Cory Rasmus (6-6) gets the loss. Kirk Clark picks up the save. The Braves and Legends face off again tomorrow at 1pm for the second game of the series. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
