Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
(Charleston, WV- August 3, 2014)- The West Virginia Power were shutout by the Lexington Legends 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park. Frank Schwindel blasted a two-run home run in the first inning and Matt Alvarez shut down the Power offense.
Lexington started the first inning for the second consecutive game with a home run from Frank Schwindel that made the score 2-0 in favor of the Legends
The Legends added to their advantage with another run in the fourth inning behind a Kenny Diekroeger RBI double. That would be all Lexington needed as West Virginia could muster just four hits in the loss.
Cody Dickson (5-9) was charged with the loss while Matt Alvarez (5-5) earned the win, not allowing a run over five innings of work including eight strikeouts and Luis Rico (1) tallied the save with four innings of relief.
West Virginia hosts the Hagerstown Suns on Monday, August 4, at Appalachian Power Park. Buddy Borden will take the hill against the Suns Nick Pivetta. For tickets or more information, call 304-344-BATS or visit www.wvpower.com.
