(CHARLESTON, W. Va.) Matt Alvarez and Luis Rico teamed up for a four-hitter and Frank Schwindel hit a two-run homer as the Lexington Legends shut out the West Virginia Power 3-0 Sunday.
With one out in the top of the first inning, Dominique Taylor drew a walk, and Schwindel homered to right field. It was his second home run in two games and 17th of the year.
The Legends added a run in the fourth on a single by Dex Kjerstad and a double by Kenny Diekroeger.
Alvarez (5-5) got the win. He allowed two hits and no runs in five innings, struck out eight batters and walked two. Rico allowed two hits over the last four innings and picked up his first save of the season.
West Virginia starter Cody Dickson (5-9) was the losing pitcher.
The Legends open a seven-game homestand Monday night. Game time Monday is 7:05 p.m. as the Legends take on the Rome Braves.
