Lemurs Whip the Tornadoes

Laredo, TX - The Laredo Lemurs (19-21) put together a solid team effort to help beat the Worcester Tornadoes (14-27) 10-1 on Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Lemurs starting pitcher Manny Ayala (2-2) put together five solid innings, giving up one run, on six hits, while striking out four, to earn his second win this season.

The Lemurs bats caught fire tonight with John Allen leading the charge as he put up two hits in four at at bats, with two runs, and two RBI. Stephen Pearson also had a nice night for the Lemurs posting two doubles, and two RBI's in three at bats. Lemurs rookie right fielder added some pop to the night as he hit his first homerun as a professional baseball player over the left field wall.

The Worcester Tornadoes saw Brandon Pinckney pick up four singles in five at bats with an RBI.

Tornadoes starting pitcher Kevin Cooper (2-4) took the loss throwing six, giving up five runs, on seven hits, in his eighth start of the year.

The start of tonight's game was delayed an hour and eight minutes do the rain that passed through Laredo on Saturday afternoon.
