Lemurs Sweep Tornadoes

Laredo, TX - The Laredo Lemurs (19-21) pitching stayed the course as they shutout the Worcester Tornadoes (14-27) 5-0 Sunday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Lemurs starting pitcher Mark Haynes (2-1) came out firing as he retired the first eight batters that he faced before giving up a walk to the Tornadoes nine hitter. Haynes went seven strong, giving up three hits, and striking out five, in the Lemurs shutout over the Tornadoes.

Lemurs catcher Brian Peterson came up big at the plate, getting key hits in both the second and third to punch in two RBI's in each at bat for a four RBI night.

The Lemurs pitching staff gave up only one run to the Tornadoes in the three game series. They shut out the Tornadoes in the first game of the series 2-0 and again in the third game 5-0. The Lemurs pitching staff has thrown five shutouts this season.

The Lemurs will hit the road on Tuesday to take on the El Paso Diablos for a four game series at Cohan Stadium.
