June 21, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Norfolk Tides News Release

Trey Mancini homered as part of a three-hit night, but the Lehigh Valley IronPigs turned five double plays as they edged the Tides 3-2 Tuesday night at Harbor Park.

Mancini got the Tides on the board in the second frame with a solo shot to deep left field, his 14th home run of the season between Double-A Bowie and Norfolk - most among Orioles minor leaguers. He also singled twice in the contest - including an RBI knock in the fourth inning - to raise his average to .320 through 19 games in June.

Lehigh Valley starter Jake Thompson (6-5) earned the win after allowing two runs on seven hits over eight solid innings of work. He walked one and struck out two and was aided by an infield that turned five double plays. The five twin-killings hit into matched a Norfolk franchise record, last accomplished during the 2012 season. The Tides have now grounded into 78 double plays this season, most in the IL.

Making his first appearance with Norfolk since May 30, Andy Oliver (0-1) took the loss after yielding three runs on four hits over 4.0 innings. He walked three and struck out one, with all three runs coming against him in the fourth inning. He threw 31 of his 57 pitches for strikes and now owns a 2.56 ERA through 14 games (five starts) with the Tides this year.

Nick Additon turned in a tremendous relief outing in back of Oliver, as he spun five shutout innings in his second appearance out of the bullpen this season. He needed just 62 pitches to navigate his outing as he walked one and struck out a pair.

The two clubs continue their four-game series on Wednesday night at Harbor Park, with first pitch slated for 7:05. Mike Wright is set to make his Tides debut after being optioned from Baltimore and will be opposed by right-hander Ben Lively (3-0, 2.08).

As part of Transportation Night at Harbor Park, the first 2,000 fans on Wednesday will receive a rally towel, courtesy of Norfolk Southern and The Port of Virginia.

Notes: Prior to Tuesday's game, RHP Oliver Drake was recalled to Baltimore to take the roster spot of infielder Paul Janish, who was outrighted to Norfolk...Dariel Alvarez did not play in the contest, just the second game he's missed this season...The Tides wore throwback Norfolk Tars jerseys as part of Turn Back The Clock Night.
