(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Lexington starter Cody Reed recorded his first professional win, and Dex Kjerstad hit his first home run as a professional as the Lexington Legends took a 6-3 win over the Asheville Tourists in the first of two seven-inning games Wednesday. The doubleheader was scheduled in order to make up Tuesday night's game, which was postponed due to rain.

The Tourists came back to take the second game 7-3.

Elier Hernandez, in his first at bat since May 22, homered to give the Legends a 1-0 lead in the second inning of the first game. Hernandez had been on the disabled list due to a groin injury. Kjerstad homered in the third inning for a 2-0 lead.

The Legends added two runs in the fourth. Chad Johnson singled with one out and moved to third on a two-out double by Dominique Taylor. Johnson scored on an infield hit by Humberto Arteaga, and Taylor scored when third baseman Ryan McMahon threw past first after fielding the hit by Arteaga.

Taylor's two-run double in the sixth closed out the scoring for Lexington.

Reed (1-6) allowed four hits and no runs in six innings, but the Tourists rallied in the seventh. Ryan McMahon drew a leadoff walk from reliever Matt Alvarez. Correlle Prime flied out, but Jordan Patterson and Alec Mehrton followed with singles, loading the bases. Jose Briceno singled home McMahon, and Louisville native Zach Osborne singled, scoring Patterson. Max White walked, forcing home a third run, but Wilfredo Rodriguez grounded into a double play, ending the game.

Asheville starter Zach Jemiola (5-7) was the losing pitcher.

In the second game, each team scored a run in the first inning, and the Legends took a 2-1 lead when Kjerstad singled in Arteaga in the second inning.

But Asheville claimed the lead for good in the fourth. Patterson and Michael Benjamin walked, and both scored on Emerson Jimenez' double.

The Tourists added a single run in the sixth and pulled away with three in the seventh as Prime, Patterson and Benjamin delivered RBI singles.

Matt Carasiti (3-1), who entered the game in the fourth inning and pitched through the sixth, got the win. Legends starter Pedro Fernandez (0-3) was the losing pitcher.

The Legends remain at home to play the Charleston RiverDogs, an affiliate of the New York Yankees.

The four-game series opens Thursday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
