Lexington and Asheville locked up in a battle of pitchers Monday, and the two teams split a doubleheader in front of 7, 912 fans at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The Legends won the first of two-seven inning games 2-1 as starter Juan Minaya (1-3) allowed only two hits over five innings while striking out 10 batters. Jorge DeLeon pitched two scoreless innings for his fourth save of the season. Asheville left-hander Edwar Cabrera got the better of Lexington in game two as the Tourists earned a series split with a 1-0 victory. Lexington jumped out in front in the opener with a run in the first inning. Adam Bailey doubled and went to third on a wild pitch. After Chris Wallace walked, Tyler Burnett singled up the middle to drive home Bailey.

The Tourists tied it in the third. Rafael Ortega singled with one out, stole second, and advanced to third as Helder Velazquez' grounder got past first baseman Burnett for an error. A wild pitch allowed Ortega to score the tying run.

The Legends scored the deciding run in the fifth. Daniel Adamson reached second on a throwing error by third baseman Velazquez. He was bunted to third by Roberto Pena, and scored on Emilio King's single to left.

In the second game, Cabrera (3-1) overcame six hits and six walks, and got out of two bases-loaded jams to earn the win.

Asheville scored the game's only run in the seventh inning on a base hit by Avery Barnes, a wild pitch, and an RBI single by Joey Wong. Legends' reliever Jason Chowning (1-1) took the loss, despite striking out eight batters in four innings.

The Legends will continue their home stand Tuesday night when they welcome the West Virginia Power for a three game series. The Tourists will return to Asheville to host the Rome Braves.
