Kannapolis Intimidators Hosting Celebrity Softball Game on May 22 to Benefit AARP

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 16, 2011) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class-A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, are adding to the festivities of Race Week on Sunday, May 22, with a Celebrity Softball Game to Benefit AARP at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium beginning at 3 p.m. Gates open for the day at 2:30 p.m.

The exhibition event will feature local celebrities - including guests from NASCAR Spring Cup Series, Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series teams, along with CBS Radio and the Lake Norman Fear - and will lead up to the Intimidators game against the Delmarva Shorebirds at 5:05 p.m. A list of celebrity participants will be released later this week on the Intimidators website.

The Celebrity Softball Game will feature fun giveaways, raffles and auctions throughout the event, and a portion of the proceeds will go toward AARP. Celebrity participants will be available for autographs and pictures after the event, which will lead up to the Intimidators game.

Tickets on Sunday, May 22, will allow fans admission to both the Celebrity Softball Game and the Kannapolis Intimidators game that evening all for one ticket. Sunday games are also Kids Day at the ballpark with Intimidators players available for autographs leading up to the game at 5:05 p.m., and kids can run the bases after the game.

The Intimidators return from a seven-game road trip to Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium on Friday, May 20, for a four-game series against Delmarva. The ballpark is located just off I-85 at exit 63.
