Jiovanni Mier had a single, double and triple and the Lexington Legends collected 17 hits on their way to a 10-3 win over the Delmarva Shorebirds Tuesday night in Salisbury, Maryland.

The score was tied 1-1 in the third inning when Lexington's Grant Hogue was hit by a pitch leading off the inning. Mier tripled to right center field, scoring Hogue, and Mier scored one out later on a double by Jake Goebbert to give Lexington a 3-1 lead. Goebbert leads the South Atlantic League with 38 doubles.

The Legends added two runs in the fifth inning. Hogue doubled, and scored on a single by Mier. After Mier stole second, Jimmy Paredes struck out, but Goebbert walked and Ben Heath singled to load the bases. Mier scored as Aaron Bray grounded into a force play at second base, and the Legends had a 5-1 lead.

The score remained 5-1 until the Legends exploded for five runs in the top of the ninth inning. Back-to-back doubles by Mier and Paredes brought home one run, and with one out, Heath tripled to center field to score Paredes. Bray followed with a single, bringing home Heath and making the score 8-1. Jonathan Meyer flied out, but Brian Kemp was hit by a pitch, and the runners later moved up to second and third on a wild pitch. Bubby Williams then lined a double down the left field line to score the final two runs for Lexington.

T.J. Baxter homered with a man on for Delmarva in the bottom of the ninth to leave the final score at 10-3.

Goebbert and Heath each had three hits for Lexington, and Bray had three RBI.

Tanner Bushue (6-7) worked the first six innings to get the win. Delmarva starter Bobby Bundy (2-5) was the losing pitcher. Mike Schurz pitched the final three innings to earn a save, his second, for the Legends.
