
Higashioka Activated off DL

CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Tuesday that Charleston RiverDogs catcher Kyle Higashioka has been activated off the DL.
Higashioka appeared in 83 games with the team prior to being placed on the DL on July 28, including 56 starts at catcher and 27 as DH. The Huntington Beach, Calif. native is currently batting .219 on the year, with 34 runs, 16 doubles, six home runs and 23 RBI. The 20-year-old's six home runs this season rank third on the team. The 6'1" prospect was selected by the Yankees in the seventh round, 230th overall, of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Edison High School (Calif.).
