Lexington Legends News Release
Brian Pellegrini became the Lexington Legends all-time leader in home runs, and the Legends completed a sweep of the Asheville Tourists with a10-6 win in Asheville Monday night.
Pellegrini gave the Legends a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when he homered over the right field wall, scoring Eric Suttle, who had doubled to lead off the game. It was Pellegrini's eighth home run of the season and his 29th as a Legend, breaking the old record he had shared with Tommy Whiteman and Justin Humphries.
The Legends added four more runs in the second inning. Jorge De Leon drove in two with a double. Jay Austin had an RBI double, and later scored on a wild pitch.
Pellegrini hit his second home run of the game in the fifth inning. Steve Brown hit his second homer of the year in the sixth, and Michael Diaz hit his third in the seventh. Starter Kyle Greenwalt (4-6) got the win, and Henry Villar picked up the save, his third. Villar threw one pitch to get out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth. With the Legends leading 8-5, Jordan Pacheco hit Villar's first pitch up the middle, where shortstop De Leon fielded the ball, stepped on second and threw to first for a double play to end the inning.
Asheville starter Dan Houston (2-5) was the losing pitcher.
The Legends return home to face the Bowling Green Hot Rods in a three-game series. First pitch Tuesday night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
