HAGERSTOWN, MD - For the second time during the 2009 season, a member of the Hagerstown Suns was selected as a South Atlantic League Player of the Week, as left-handed pitcher Patrick McCoy was honored as the Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on June 14th.

Over the previous seven days, McCoy pitched twice and compiled 11.1 innings of shutout baseball. On the season, the Nationals 10th round pick in the 2007 Draft has a 1.85 ERA and a 1-0 record.

The lone win for the season came on Sunday, June 14th as McCoy pitched five innings in relief of rehabbing Major Leaguer Matt Chico against the Delmarva Shorebirds.

Suns pitching coach Franklin Bravo is unsurprised at McCoy's recent form and expects him to move into the rotation once Chico departs from Hagerstown.

"He was supposed to be a starter here," said Bravo. "And after the All-Star Break he'll be back in the rotation."

Derek Norris is the other Sun with a SAL Player of the Week award under his belt in 2009. The Suns catcher was honored for the week ending on May 17th.

The Hagerstown Suns play at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD and are a Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Ticket packages and sponsorships are available by calling the Suns at 301-791-6266. Visit the Suns on the web at www.hagerstownsuns.com. The Suns are owned by Los Angeles based Mandalay Baseball Properties.
