Hagerstown Suns News Release
EASTLAKE, OH - The Hagerstown Suns (29-31), fresh off a decisive 6-0 win on Sunday, fell to the Lake County Captains by a score of 3-1 on Monday at Classic Park in Eastlake, OH.
Brad Peacock started the game for the Suns, and ran into trouble in the bottom of the second inning. Peacock allowed three runs on four hits and one walk in the inning.
The right-hander settled down after the second and pitched through the sixth inning without allowing another run, but it was too late and Peacock was saddled with his sixth loss of the season.
The Suns lone run came in the top of the third inning, as with one out third baseman Robby Jacobsen singled to left field and scored as DH Nick Arata doubled down the left field line.
Hagerstown threatened again in the top of the sixth inning against Lake County starter Alexander Perez, putting runners at second and third with only one out, but came up empty.
Perez picked up his fifth win of the season with six strong innings, allowing just one run and striking out eight Hagerstown hitters.
TJ McFarland came in to relieve Perez in the top of the seventh inning and though the Suns brought the go-ahead run to the plate in the top of the ninth, managed to record his first save of the season. McFarland recorded three strikeouts of his own, and induced a game-ending double-play off the bat of left fielder Charlie Fermaint with two on in the top of the ninth to close out the Suns.
Hagerstown and Lake County will finish their quick two-game series at Classic Park on Tuesday, June 16th at 7:00 p.m. Following the game, the Suns will return to Hagertown to take on the visiting Lakewood BlueClaws for a two-game series starting at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17th.
