Legends Shut Out Greensboro for Third Straight Win

Robby Donovan pitched seven shutout innings, and the Lexington Legends won their third straight game over the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 6-0 in Greensboro Sunday. Donovan has now pitched 17 consecutive scoreless innings.

The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Jiovanni Mier walked, stole second and came home on Aaron Bray's single.

Lexington added another run in the third inning. Grant Hogue led off with a single, went to third on Miguel Arrendell's hit-and-run-single, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Mier.

Arrendell, who had three hits, also doubled home a run in the fifth inning when the Legends scored twice to increase their lead to 4-0. Lexington scored its final two runs in the eighth inning on RBI singles by Brian Kemp and Hogue.

Donovan (4-3) was the winning pitcher. He allowed six hits in seven innings, walked two and struck out four. Arcenio Leon pitched the eighth and ninth innings and did not allow a baserunner. Greensboro starter Curtis Petersen (1-4) was the losing pitcher.

The Legends took three of four games in Greensboro. They will open a four-game series against the West Virginia Power in Charleston Monday night at 7:05 p.m.
