ASHEVILLE, NC - Despite an 11-4 lead, and six RBI from Ian Gac, the Kannapolis Intimidators allow the Asheville Tourists to score nine straight runs to overtake the lead and win the series finale by the score of 13-11. Asheville came into this series as the last place team in the South Atlantic League but take three games out of four.

The Intimidators (22-22) got off to a great start as the first three reached base off starter Jonathan Vargas and Gac hit his first of two home runs, a grand slam and a 4-0 lead. However, the Tourists (17-25) struck back to cut the lead with two runs in the bottom of the first off Joe Serafin to make it 4-2.

In the second inning, Gac was back at it again, homering deep over the wall in left-centerfield, a two run shot to take a 6-2 lead. However, the Tourists got another run back to make it 6-3. In the third inning, the Intimidators got two more runs, helping out were a walk to Trayce Thompson to lead off the inning and an RBI-double by Jose Vargas, his fourth RBI double in consecutive games. However, again, the Tourists struck back with a run to make it 8-4.

The Intimidators then grabbed three straight runs to balloon their advantage to its highest point at 11-4 after their at-bats in the bottom of the fifth, but they wouldn't score the rest of the game. Kannapolis ended with 12 hits, and 11 runs, Vargas had two doubles, Gac had two home runs and six RBI and Jesus Villegas had three hits, two doubles in the game.

Off Serafin who went five innings, allowing seven runs, four earned, the Tourists grabbed three runs in the fifth to cut the advantage to 11-7 before he exited the game in favor of Garrett Johnson. Johnson would then work the final three innings, but it was the sixth inning that caused him the most trouble. In the sixth, Johnson (2-1) allowed two walks, two singles, two doubles and a three-run home run by Nolan Arenado. The Tourists erased a seven run disadvantage with nine straight runs and held on for victory 13-11.

The Intimidators have lost three straight on the road for the first time this season and are back at an even .500 on their record. They look to right the ship in Savannah against the Sand Gnats as they begin a four game series on Monday night at 7:05. Cameron Bayne (2-6) will be on the hill and he will be opposed by Jimmy Fuller (5-2).
