Blue Claws Beat West Virginia Power 3-0

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Brody Colvin was sensational Sunday afternoon, and the BlueClaws earned a series split with the West Virginia Power 3-0.

The BlueClaws (24-20) have yet to lose a series this season, winning two and splitting nine.

Colvin (3-5) allowed just two hits in seven innings, striking out seven in his best outing of 2010. He has given up just one run in his last two starts (13 innings) after surrendering five runs in just 1.2 innings on May 12th.

Lakewood held a 1-0 lead through most of the game. Leandro Castro doubled with two outs in the first, and Jonathan Singleton brought him home with a double of his own. Singleton now has 10 RBIs in 10 games as a BlueClaw.

The Claws added some insurance runs in the eighth. With runners on second and third Sebastian Valle doubled to left to make it 3-0. Valle went 3-for-4 on the day.

Jordan Ellis and Josh Zeid (S, 7) pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth to lock up the win. Brandon Holden (0-3) took the loss for West Virginia (20-23).

Jiwan James went 0-for-4 to end his 11-game hit streak.

Monday night the BlueClaws start a four-game series against the Hagerstown Suns. RHP Colby Shreve (3-0, 1.88) will take on RHP Trevor Holder (3-1, 3.38) with first pitch set for 6:35 pm.
