The lower end of the batting order came through for the Lexington Legends in an 8-2 win over the Charleston RiverDogs in Charleston Friday night.

Center fielder Brandon Barnes, batting seventh, was three-for-four with three runs scored. Right fielder Marques Williams, who batted eighth, was a perfect four-for-four with two runs scored. Williams also drove in the Legends' first two runs with a two-out single in the second inning, scoring Freddie Hernandez, who had singled, and Barnes, who had doubled.

Brian Pellegrini hit his second home run for the Legends since joining the team last week. Pellegrini's solo shot in the fourth inning gave the Legends a 3-0 lead.

Robert Bono shut out the RiverDogs on four hits through five innings. In the sixth, a walk and two doubles cut the Lexington lead to 3-2 and put the tying run at third. Henry Villar relieved Bono at that point, and after a wild pitch, got the next three hitters while holding a runner at third to preserve the lead.

The Legends scored three times in the top of the seventh to increase the lead to 6-2. Barnes and Williams had hits in the inning, and designated hitter Steve Brown hit a two-run double, part of a 13-hit Legends attack.

Patrick Urckfitz relieved Villar with two on and one out in the eighth, and worked the rest of the game to earn the save, his second. Bono (5-1) got the win. Starter Manny Banuelos (1-2) was the loser for Charleston.

The series concludes with a 7:05 p.m. game Saturday.
