LEXINGTON, KY. - The team that makes the fewest mistakes often wins big games. On Saturday night, the Legends made two mistakes too many. An Eric Cavers passed ball and a Jamie Gant wild pitch in the eleventh inning allowed Delmarva to score two runs and pick up a 6-4 win.

The victory gives Delmarva some breathing room with a 1 1/2 game lead over the Legends in the Northern Division.

The Legends battled back from an early three run deficit to force extra innings. A solo homer in the ninth inning by J.R. Towles capped the rally.

Delmarva broke a string of nine consecutive games where the Legends dented the scoreboard first. The Birds pushed across a run in the third inning thanks to a Doug Arguello error. Arguello fielded a bunt single by Lorenzo Scott and threw wildly into foul territory allowing Scott to advance to third base. Jonathon Tucker's grounder scored Scott.

The Legends responded with a run in the bottom half of the third inning. Ryan Reed doubled and moved to third base on a wild pitch. Wladimir Sutil's soft single to right scored Reed to tie the game at one.

Arturo Rivas smacked a solo homer in the fourth inning to make 2-1. RBI singles by Scott and Stuart Musslewhite gave Delmarva a 4-1 lead. Eli Iorg drilled a 2-run homer setting up a Towles' dramatic ninth inning shot.

Both offenses cooled until the eleventh. Jamie Gant loaded the bases with a walk, a single and hit batter. Pinch runner Zach Davis scored on Cavers passed ball. Gant's wild pitch opened the door for Ryan Finan to score.

Game two is set for Sunday afternoon at 2:05pm. Sean Walker (4-3) will oppose Reid Hamblet (1-3).

It's Military Day at the Orchard. The Legends will pay tribute to the men and women who defend our country. We'll be giving away camouflage Legends hats at the game. It's also another JIF kids club day at the ballpark.
