
Legends Lock Down Lone Star Victory

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Texas Legends (9-10) hit the road for an in-state victory over their rival Austin Spurs (8-9) 99-94.
James Banks grabbed the first basket to give Texas a jump start, but Devontae Cacok responded quickly for Austin and the back-and-forth began. The visitors held a one-point edge after the first buzzer, but the Spurs went on a 9-0 run early in the second and maintained the lead through most of the quarter. Carlik Jones hit a buzzer-beater to put Texas back on top 43-42 at the half.
The two teams exchanged baskets and leads four times in the first two minutes of the third before the Legends took the lead they would hold through the final. Jaylen Morris slammed one in with just under five minutes in the quarter to bring the Spurs within two before Texas went on a 19-7 run to go up 14 points heading into the fourth. Austin battled back to a five-point difference with two minutes to play but Texas stopped the comeback there.
Jones led all scorers with 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. Justin Jackson added 19 points, 6 rebounds, and Feron Hunt finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds. Banks neared a double-double with 12 points, 9 rebounds. In his first appearance with the team Chris Walker grabbed 9 rebounds and a team season-high 7 blocks.
Joe Wieskamp led the Spurs with 20 points while Cacok added 14 points, 16 rebounds. Jordan Murphy came off the bench for another double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds.
