Capital City Go-Go News Release
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Capital City Go-Go (13-6), the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, earned a season sweep against the Cleveland Charge (2-15), defeating them 114-104 on Monday night in Southeast.
A quiet first quarter quickly turned into a second quarter dominated by the Go-Go, who used a 16-2 run started by a thunderous Devontae Shuler alley-oop to take a 10-point advantage into the break. Cleveland, who was playing with just seven players, started out hot in the third, embarking on a 17-5 run to quickly take a two-point lead. The two teams battled the remainder of the third and into the fourth and were tied at 93 with 6:06 to go. A 13-6 Go-Go run, and a final 6-0 run gave Capital City the game down the stretch.
Capital City committed a season-low seven turnovers on the night, while forcing 15 Cleveland turnovers. On his 24th birthday, Cassius Winston scored a team-high 22 points on 8-12 shooting from the field off the bench. Jordan Goodwin tallied his second-straight 20+ point game, finishing with 21, six rebounds and seven assists. DeJon Jarreau also had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Go-Go reserve unit, which outscored Cleveland's bench 58-8.
Cleveland was led by Cameron Young's career-high 41 points, the first 40-point effort against the Go-Go since Dwayne Bacon in Greensboro on 2/22/20. Dylan Windler scored 22 points with 14 rebounds, while Justin James finished with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Charge.
The Go-Go will head to Wisconsin for a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday. The Charge will head home to take on the Maine Celtics on Friday as well.
