Even in an economic downturn, the Lexington Legends have shown significant increases in both paid and turnstile attendance in 2009 over a similar period in 2008.

Through the first 11 home dates in 2009, the Legends paid attendance was 49,921, an increase of 4,329 (9.5%) over the same period in 2008. The increase in turnstile attendance - the number of people who enter the gates - is even larger: 26%.

The Legends are averaging 4,538 fans per game in 2009, third in the South Atlantic League, compared to 4,177 per game through the same period in 2008.

"The Legends continue to be a low-priced, high-value family experience," said Legends President and CEO Alan Stein.

"We recognize how tough the economy has been, so we've worked hard to keep ticket and concession prices down," added General Manager Andy Shea.

The Legends have offered $1 general admission tickets to the first 50 fans at home games. There have been no price increases on most concession items. Special nights such as Kids Eat Free Mondays, Quarter Hot Dog Tuesdays and one-dollar beverages on "Thirsty Thursdays" have proven popular with fans. Ticket prices have not increased in the past three seasons.

The Legends are at home Thursday and Friday nights at 7:05 p.m. against the Rome Braves. Following an eight-game road trip, the Legends will open their next home stand against Charleston May 11.
