Left wing Valeev Reassigned to the Worcester IceCats

Peoria, Ill. (December 11, 2004) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that fourth-year left wing Igor Valeev has been reassigned to the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate – the Worcester IceCats.

Valeev – a 6-foot, 210-pound native of Snezhensk, Russia – has four points (2g, 2a) over the last four games for the Rivermen and has tallied 10 (3g, 7a) over 16 games this season with the team with a +3 plus/minus. Last season, the 23-year-old posted 13 points (5g, 8a) and 33 penalty minutes (PIM) with a +8 plus/minus in 11 games over two reassignments with Peoria. In 31 games with Worcester last year, the St. Louis Blues' fourth round selection (122nd overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft tallied four points (1g, 3a) and 68 PIM.

In his sophomore campaign (2002-2003), Valeev led the IceCats in PIM with 153, while posting 18 points (6g, 12a) over 72 games. He competed in just 29 games for Worcester as a rookie (2001-2002), tallying nine points (3g, 6a) with 72 PIM.

The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL – The Premier "AA" Hockey League. It is the first of two Church Nights this season.
