
Gators end trip with 4-0 loss at Pee Dee

Florence, SC The Louisiana IceGators ended a 5 games in 8 days road trip with a 4-0 loss at the hands of the PeeDee Pride. Nick Boucher of the Pride getting his 2nd shut out in two nights as Louisiana finished the trip with a record of 2-2-1.
The Gators fell behind 1-0 after the first period as the Pride scored just 24 seconds into the game. Jake Wiegand firing a slap shot past Nathan Marsters for the early lead. Brian Collins and Mark Mullen getting the assists on Wiegand's first goal of the season.. The Pride outshot the Gators 14-6 in the first 20 minutes.
The Pride expanded the lead to 4-0 with three goals in the 2nd period.Greg Johnson's backhander from the low slot made the score 2-0, his 4th of the season at 4:33. Jeff Szwez rocketed a one-timer from the right circle at 6:03, his first lamp lighter of the season to make it 3-0. Kyle Kidney added a power play goal on a deflection, his 7th, at 12:41 to give the Pride a 4-0 cushion through 40 minutes.
The 3rd period was scoreless but very ugly as the two teams combined for more than 70 penalty minutes. For the game the Pride outshot the Gators 41 to 25. Louisiana was 0-2 on the power play, PeeDee was 1-8. With the loss, the Gators fall to 10-6-3, good for 23 points on the season.
The IceGators return home to the Frozen Swamp on Tuesday night December 14th to face the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05pm. It is the beginning of "Toy Drive" week, culminating in Teddy Bear Toss night on Friday December 17.Tickets for this and all IceGators home games are available now.
