'Blades fall to Stingrays 3-0

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (12-11-0) dropped their second straight game with a 3-0 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays (11-11-1) on Saturday night at Germain Arena. Stingrays goaltender Kirk Daubenspeck turned away all 45 shots he faced, and South Carolina notched a pair of power play goals helping to win their third straight game.

Carlyle Lewis and Joe Tenute each scored first period power play goals for South Carolina to set the tone, and give the 'Rays a 2-0 lead after one period. South Carolina added to their lead with a second period goal by Mark Ardelan to open the three-goal advantage after two periods. The Stingrays, who came into the game with a 7-0-0 record when leading after two periods, kept the Everblades from denting the twine in the final period, with Daubenspeck turning away all 13 shots he faced in the frame.

Rob Zepp started in goal for Florida and suffered the loss allowing the three goals on 25 shots. The loss dropped Zepp's record to 4-6-0. Daubenspeck earned his second shutout of the season with his 45 save performance and raised his record to 7-8-1. The Everblades finished the night 0-for-6 on the power play, while the Stingrays converted two of their five power play chances.
