Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC – Coach Bryan Maxwell has finally solidified his goaltending situation by signing 34 year old free agent, Grant Sjerven, of Victoria. This is Sjerven's 11th professional season and his 8th pro team. The journeyman netminder has made stops in the ECHL, IHL, CHL and British Hockey League.

Sjerven, who was added to the Salmon Kings roster as the teams emergency back-up, after the release of David Brumby, will continue to work behind starter Jason Stone. Sjerven will bring leadership and experience to the Salmon Kings tandem.

Sjerven played University hockey at St. Cloud State in the NCAA. In his final year at the school Sjerven posted a winning record with sixteen wins, ten losses and three ties in 31 appearances.

In 1995-96 Sjerven posted his best numbers as a pro with the Richmond Renegades in the ECHL, where he had twenty-two starts and finished with a record of 15-2-4 and a goal against average of 2.65. He played two successful seasons in the British Hockey League with Sheffield before returning to North America to join the Odessa Jackalopes of the WPHL.

Sjerven played two seasons in the professional roller hockey league with the San Jose Rhinos.
