Late Walks Cost Erie on Sunday

The SeaWolves could not hold onto a late five-run lead as they fell to the Harrisburg Senators 6-5 on Sunday afternoon at FNB Field.

The SeaWolves jumped ahead in the top of the first inning against Harrisburg Starter Luis Reyes. Daniel Cabrera led off the game with a walk and with one out, Wenceel Perez homered to right for a 2-0 lead. The home run for Perez was his second.

Quincy Nieporte followed it with a base hit and was sacrificed to second on a Dane Myers bunt. Dillon Dingler then sent a two-run home run to right, his eighth, for a 4-0 advantage.

Erie starter Austin Bergner hurled three scoreless innings in a no-decision effort. He allowed four hits with a walk and three strikeouts in the planned three-inning performance.

Erie extended the lead in the top of the sixth when Myers led off and clubbed a solo home run off of reliever Malvin Pena making it 5-0. The 426' home run was the 12th of the season for Myers.

Harrisburg got back into the game in the seventh against the Erie bullpen. Zac Houston worked a scoreless sixth with a pair of walks and three strikeouts. In the seventh, he walked Brady Lindsly and then struck out back-to-back hitters. A walk to Jackson Cluff put a pair on and Erie summoned Billy Lescher. Lescher walked Justin Connell and John Nogowski hit grand slam to left, making it a one-run game.

The Senators won the game in the bottom of the ninth against Gerson Moreno. Jack Dunn led off with a walk and Gilbert Lara and Cluff each singled. Connell brought home Dunn on a sacrifice fly, tying the game. Nogowski walked to re-load the bases and Wilson Garica singled home Lara to walk off the game.

Andrew Lee (3-2) earned the win for Harrisburg tossing a scoreless top of the ninth.

Moreno (2-1) took the loss allowing two runs on two hits with two walks and no strikeouts.
