Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Reading Fightin Phils fell to the Richmond Flying Squirrels 7-2 on a wet Sunday at The Diamond. The two teams split the series with three wins apiece. Jhailyn Ortiz had two of Reading's four hits, both doubles.
Richmond plated the first run of the game on an RBI single by Diego Rincones in the third.
They added another in the fourth with Tyler Fitzgerald's solo homer making it 2-0.
In the sixth, the Flying Squirrels put up a five spot on three hits, one error, and a hit by pitch. The inning was capped off with Franklin Labour's three run homer.
Reading chipped away at the deficit in the seventh. An RBI double by Ortiz plated the first run. Kevin Vicuna's ground ball sent home Logan O'Hoppe to make it 7-2.
The Fightins had the bases loaded twice in the game but couldn't capitalize on those opportunities.
Colton Eastman got the start going four innings allowing two runs on four hits.
Erik Miller, in his first outing since June 8, sat down the side quickly, striking out two.
Tyler McKay got just one out in the sixth. He let up five runs, four earned, on three hits.
Mike Adams got back to back strikeouts to get out of the sixth and pitched a clean seventh as well.
Carlo Reyes needed just 13 offerings for a 1-2-3 eighth.
The Fightins return home to FirstEnergy Stadium from Tuesday, July 12 - Sunday, July 17.
