Altoona's Early and Often Offense Powers Past Akron 11-1

The Akron RubberDucks donned their Los Perros Calientes Copa identity on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park. The Altoona Curve used early and often offense to down Los Perros Calientes 11-1.

Turning Point

Possessing a five-run lead going into the ninth inning, Altoona looked to tack on some insurance runs. Akron's pitching would see all nine batters in the inning, two reaching on errors, and four getting hits, relinquishing five runs in the inning and stretching the Altoona lead to 11-1.

Mound Presence

Gavin Williams got the start for Akron and worked out of early trouble in the first inning stranding two. Williams went on to toss four and a third innings, giving up two runs. Cade Smith worked one inning and gave up three runs. Manuel Alvarez followed with two innings and gave up one run. Robert Broom gave up five runs in his inning and a third of work.

Duck Tales

Bryan Lavastida led off the sixth inning with a triple and was driven in with a Micah Pries groundout, making the score 5-1 Altoona.

Notebook

With a hit in today's game, Raynel Delgado increased his hitting streak to six games which ties his high since coming to Akron...Game Time: 2:48...Attendance: 3,406.
