
Late Schaumburg Rally Denied in Opener at Windy City

CRESTWOOD, IL - The Schaumburg Boomers scored twice in the eighth inning to tie the game but dropped a 6-4 decision in the opener of a three-game series on the road against the Windy City ThunderBolts.
The Boomers jumped in front 2-0 in the first inning. Matt McGarry led off the game with a single, stole second and scored on an RBI single from Chase Dawson. Dawson would come in to score with two outs on a basehit from Luke Becker. Windy City touched Schaumburg starter Andrew Dean for three runs in the fourth and added another in the seventh against the bullpen. Schaumburg tied the game in the eighth. Dawson knocked home his second run of the contest with a sacrifice fly to score Nick Oddo. Angelo Gumbs stroked an RBI single through the right side with two outs to score McGarry with the tying run. Windy City scored twice with two outs in the bottom of the inning to grab the victory.
Matt Bottcher totaled three hits with Dawson notching a pair. McGarry scored a pair of runs. Dean threw six innings and allowed three runs in a no-decision. Kristian Scott suffered the loss in relief.
The Boomers (9-9) continue the series at 6:05 on Wednesday with RHP Orlando Rodriguez (1-1, 4.42) on the mound against RHP Tom Jager (0-0, 0.00).
