Washington Wild Things News Release

FLORENCE, Ky. - The Wild Things clubbed 15 hits, three of which were home runs and piled on 13 runs to win the series opener against the Florence Y'alls in Kentucky, 13-5. The win is the third in a row for Washington and it was highlighted by Nick Ward's four-hit night. Ward finished a triple shy of the cycle.

Bralin Jackson's second home run of the year got the scoring started in the fourth for Washington as it drew first blood. Reigning Frontier League Player of the Week Harrison DiNicola hit a two-run homer to give Florence a lead that turned out to be short-lived. Washington plated nine runs in its half of the fifth inning on an RBI single from Hector Roa, a three-run homer, his fourth dinger, from Andrew Czech, RBI doubles from Trevor Casanova and Gabe Howell and a three-run shot by Ward.

Florence answered with a three-run homer by Trevor Craport in the home fifth, but that would be all the Y'alls would get. The Wild Things added three in the ninth on a bases-clearing triple by newcomer Connor Perry. Eight of nine Wild Things had at least one hit while seven had at least one RBI.

Washington and Florence will battle in the middle game of the series tomorrow at 6:31 p.m. Keven Pimentel will take the mound and be opposed by Christian Tripp.
