
Capra Walks Off Miners For Boulders

Rockland County, NY - Phil Capra's bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the New York Boulders a 3-2 Frontier League win over the Sussex County Miners on Tuesday at Palisades Credit Union Park.
The New York victory snapped a six-game Miners's winning streak and handed Sussex County only their third loss in 16 games this season.
With Jalen Miller, Sr. on in relief for the MIners, Tucker Nathans led off the bottom of the ninth with a single. Zach Penprase rhen walked before Brandon Bingel was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Capra then walked on a full count pitch.
The Miners jumped in front in the top of the first on an RBI single by Audy Ciriaco. However, the Boulders got that one back in the home half of the second on Ray Hernandez' fourth home run of the season and his third in two games.
The teams then traded runs in the third inning. Sussex got their run on a run-scoring single by Chuck Taylor that plated Nilo Rijo, who had singled and stole second and third. New York leveled the scoreboard at 2-2 on successive doubles by Zach KIrtley and Kevonte Mitchell.
The game stayed tied at 2-2 until the bottom of the ninth.
Tanner Kiest,the third pitcher for New York, struck out the side in the ninth to get the win for the Boulders.
Brian Rapp started and went the first five innings for New York, allowing two runs on six hits, walking four and striking out eight. Zach Schneider followed Rapp to the hill and tossed three scoreless frames.
Max Herrmann started for the Miners and also went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits while walking one and striking out eight. Robert Klinchock went the next two innings not allowing a run. He was followed to the mound by Michael Mediavilla, who threw a scoreless eighth before handing it off to Miller, who was tagged with the loss.
The Boulders and Jackals continue their three-game series on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Palisades Credit Union Park, then conclude it the following night, also at 7 p.m.
