(Owen Sound, ON) - Thomas Schemitsch scored at 3:16 of overtime, completing a wild comeback, as the Attack beat the Spitfires 5-4 Sunday afternoon at the Bayshore Community Centre.

Late second period goals by Luke Kirwan (14:13) and Cristiano DiGiacinto (16:28) staked Windsor (3-5- 1-0) to what looked like a comfortable 4-2 lead after 40 minutes.

The margin lasted well into the third period, before Daniel Milne's power play marker with less than eight minutes to play set a strange set of events into motion.

With Jack Flinn (30 saves) on the Owen Sound bench, in favour of an extra attacker, Spits defenceman Trevor Murphy fired a wrister at the open net that appeared to curve before striking the right post. The Attack took the puck the other way, before Holden Cook tied things up at 4-4, at 19:09.

After the teams traded chances in the extra session, Schemitsch moved in from the blueline, unfettered, before beating Brendan Johnston (37 saves) low to the blocker side, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Sam Povorozniouk staked the Spits to a 1-0 lead at 16:34 of the first period, before increasing the lead to 2-0 with his third of the season early in the second.

Schemitsch and Zack Nastasiuk scored in a 1:47 span of the middle frame, getting the Attack even at 2- 2.

Murphy and Josh Ho-Sang each chipped in a pair of assists in a losing cause.

Milne and Cook each had three-point games (1G, 2A) for Owen Sound (5-3-1-2).

The Spits next action is Thursday night, as they return to the WFCU Centre to host the Plymouth Whalers (7:05).
