Belleville Bulls News Release
BELLEVILLE, ON - After having their 4 game win streak snapped by the Oshawa Generals, the Sarnia Sting invade the Yardmen Arena hungry to get back to their recent winning ways. In their first and only trip to Belleville this season, the Sting have their hands full with a highly ranked Bulls club who are fresh off a victory the Western Conference leading Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Saturday night.
The Bulls used a 4 goal first period to their advantage along with 46 saves from netminder Charlie Graham, feeding the Greyhounds their first loss of the season. Green Valley, Ontario native Remi Elie buried back-to-back markers last night. Vancouver Canucks prospect, Jordan Subban, forwards Michael Cramarossa, Chad Heffernan and Brett Gustavsen also added their names to the goal column. Veterans Alex Yuill and Niki Petti picked up two assists each in the 6-4 win.
Prior to puck drop, Head Coach and General Manager George Burnett announced a substantial deal with the London Knights that sent Aaron Berisha, Mississauga's 2nd round pick in 2015 and Erie's 3rd round pick in 2016 to London in exchange for over-ager Brett Welychka. The native of London, Ontario brings in a great deal of experience and success to a young Bulls core as he has a couple of league championships and a few trips to the Memorial Cup under his belt. Welychka posted 3 goals and 2 assists in 9 games with London so far this season.
After starting the season with 4 straight losses the Sarnia Sting quickly flipped the script rebounding with 4 wins in a row. On Friday night they continued their current road trip making a pit stop in Oshawa for a date with the Eastern Conference leading Generals. Despite being down 3-0 after 40 minutes, the Sting made a late third period charge scoring 4 goals in the final frame. It was too little too late, though, as the Generals countered with 3 of their own in the period on route to a 6-4 win. Defenceman Anthony DeAngelo, forward Pavel Zacha, winger Hayden Hodgson and Nikita Korostelev, who is the reigning Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week, were the goal scores for Sarnia in the loss.
