Ottawa 67's News Release

OTTAWA - Dante Salituro picked up his second hat trick of the season as the Ottawa 67's remained undefeated at TD Place, posting a 5-3 victory over the Plymouth Whalers on Sunday.

Salituro completed the three-goal feat with a wrist shot over the shoulder of Plymouth goalie Zach Bowman with one minute remaining, just after the 67's had killed a penalty to preserve a one-goal lead.

Salituro is off to a blistering start to the 2014-15 season, with 10 goals in nine games, and has scored at least twice in three of the last five contests.

Metcalfe's Dylan McDonald scored his first Ontario Hockey League goal early in the third and rookie Artur Tyanulin also counted for Ottawa.

The win improved Ottawa's record to 4-5-0-0 on the season, but it came at a price after captain Travis Konecny left the ice in the second period after taking a direct elbow to the head from Plymouth's Gianluca Curcuruto.

67's overage winger Erik Bradford came to Konecny's defence immediately after the hit and challenged Curcuruto at the Plymouth bench.

Curcuruto received a major penalty for checking to the head and was dispatched from the game following the fight with Bradford.

Konecny left the ice with the assistance of teammates and did not return, but was walking throughout the arena after and watched the remainder of the match from the stands.

Liam Herbst picked up his fourth win of the season with 25 saves.

The 67's are back on the TD Place ice this week for practice, followed by a road trip to southwestern Ontario next weekend that begins on Friday, October 24 in London against the Knights.

Ottawa's next six games are on the road. After London, they're in Sarnia (Oct. 25), Kitchener (Oct. 26), Niagara (Oct. 30), Erie (Nov. 1) and Guelph (Nov. 2).

The team's next game at TD Place is on Friday, November 7 against the Oshawa Generals.
