Clinton LumberKings News Release

Appleton, WI - The offense has done all it can do for the LumberKings in the last four games. The bullpen faltered yet again for Clinton as Wisconsin scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for a come-from-behind 11-9 win Sunday afternoon at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

With nine runs and 14 more hits, Clinton has scored 39 runs and pounded out 56 hits in the last four games.

The LumberKings looked like they had their first four-game winning streak of the season in hand until trouble started in the bottom of the eighth inning. After Matt Vedo pitched three brilliant innings in relief, Clinton turned to Jochi Ogando.

Ogando walked Orlando Arcia, allowed a single to Tyrone Taylor and then walked Victor Roache to load the bases. He came back and got Max Walla to ground out to first, forcing in a run to trim the lead to 8-6. After another walk to re-load the bases, Oliver Garcia was summoned from the 'pen.

That didn't help as Adam Giacalone greeted Garcia with a two-run single to tie the game at 8-8. Garcia then walked Parker Berberet to load the bases again. He got Adrian Williams to pop out for the second out but then walked Michael Reed to bring in the go-ahead run. For insurance, Arcia lined a base hit to score two more to up the lead to 11-8. In all, Wisconsin scored six runs on two hits, and six walks in the frame.

In the ninth, Jordy Lara led off with a solo home run to cut the lead to 11-9. Jabari Henry singled with one out but Preston Gainey retired Ketel Marte and Dario Pizzano to end the game.

The two teams play the series rubber match on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CT in Appleton.
