
Bowling Green Conquers Captains 9-1

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH) - Bowling Green jumped out to a six nothing lead, over the Lake County Captains (20-40), on Sunday at Classic Park and went on to win 9-1. It took just two innings, but Bowling Green scored three runs in the second inning and three more in the third inning to take command of the ball game. In the second inning the big hit was a two run single from Andrew Toles. In the third, with one runner on base, Justin O'Conner homered to left field. The two run homer was the third of the season for O'Conner. The final in the ballgame was 9-1.
Bowling Green added a two run homer by Tommy Coyle in the seventh inning to add on to make the score 8-0. The round tripper was the fourth of the season for Coyle. The Hot Rods added a run in the ninth to make the score 9-0. The Captains committed two more errors and the total is 102 on the season in all of 2012 Lake County committed 146 total errors.
Lake County avoided the shutout with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Joe Sever, who singled to begin the inning, scored on a base hit by Yhoxian Medina and the score was 9-1.
The Captains sent RHP Robbie Aviles (1-2) to the mound to start the ballgame. Aviles took the loss. Aviles pitched two and two thirds innings and allowed four hits, five earned runs, two walks and allowed one homerun. Cody Penny pitched three and one third innings and allowed one unearned run, three hits, and he struck out three. D.J. Brown allowed two hits, two runs, one was earned, Brown walked two and struck out two. Jack Wagoner finished off the game for the Captains. Wagoner pitched one and one third innings and allowed one hit, one earned run, one walk and had three strikeouts.
Bowling Green gave the ball to Taylor Guerrieri (4-2) to start. Guerrieri got the win. Guerrieri pitched six innings and allowed three hits and two walks. He did not allow a run and struck out two. The bullpen for BG allowed just one run in the final three innings.
Monday is Buck Night, presented by PNC, featuring $1 Five Star Brand Hot Dogs, Dan Dee chips, French fries, popcorn, soda and beer. Also, fans receive a $1 discount on their tickets or $2 off their tickets if they use a PNC Bank debit or credit card.
Prior to the game on Monday, Glenville football coach Ted Ginn Sr. will be inducted into the Crow's Nest Coaches Hall of Fame.
The Pitching Matchup for Monday's game will be LHP Ryan Merritt (3-5, 3.50) for the Captains against RHP Jeff Ames (5-1, 2.75) for the Hot Rods. First Pitch is at 7:00 PM.
