Salt Lake Bees News Release

A five-run eighth inning doomed the Salt Lake Bees (60-70) Tuesday night as they fell to the Reno Aces (73-57) 9-6. It was just the eighth time this season the Bees had lost when leading after the seventh inning.

Jake Palomaki went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored and Michael Stefanic went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Mickey Moniak hit a 434-foot home run in the first game of his rehab assignment with the Bees. Davis Daniel put together his second-consecutive quality start, going six innings and giving up just two runs on five hits.

Salt Lake opened the scoring immediately as Palomaki singled, stole second base, and then scored on a single from Kean Wong. They held a 2-0 lead after the first four at-bats. Reno tied the game in the top of the second inning, but Stefanic knocked in his second run of the game in the third to give the Bees the lead.

Moniak hit his solo shot in the seventh inning as the Bees built a 6-4 lead heading into the eighth. Reno rallied for five runs in the bottom of the eighth, highlighted by a two-RBI triple from Camden Duzenack, taking their first and only lead of the game.

Game two between Salt Lake and Reno is set for tomorrow at 6:35 p.m.
