
Larson, Rosario homer as \'Hawks win, 5-3

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Ryan Larson and Olmo Rosario hit leadoff home runs as the Rockford RiverHawks rallied to beat the Kalamazoo Kings, 5-3.
The RiverHawks took two of three games from the Kings, with the other two decided by one run each, and moved into a tie for the Frontier League West lead with Kalamazoo.
Larson hit his fourth home run of the year, leading off the fourth inning, and Rosario hit his sixth, leading off the sixth inning, in front of 2,193 at Marinelli Field.
Rockford rallied for three runs off Kalamazoo starter Jon Gutierrez in the sixth. Rosario's homer to left field tied the game at 3-3 and Jerome McCoy followed with a two-run triple to right to put the âHawks in front.
Gutierrez (6-5) gave up four runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings and took the loss. Dave Dowling (2-2) pitched two perfect innings and struck out three to win in relief.
The RiverHawks hit the road for three games at Gateway, beginning at 7:05 p.m. Friday. They're home for three against Richmond, starting at 7:05 p.m. next Tuesday. Dr Pepper/7-Up make every home Tuesday a 2-for-Tuesday, when both soft drinks and hot dogs are two-for-$2.
The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
