Larks Lose 10-4 to Stingers
July 18, 2021 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Bismarck Larks News Release
The Larks dropped the first game of a two-game series on Saturday night to the Willmar Stingers, 10-4 in a game presented by KFYR TV.
There were runs to go around for everyone in the first inning. The Larks trailed 4-0 and regrouped to respond with four runs in the bottom of the first to tie it at four. Following the crazy first, Willmar collected three runs in the second to take a 7-4 lead and would go on to lead the rest of the way.
Stingers starter, Jack Zigan, allowed just one earned run in the six innings of work he had on the mound. Willmar won despite committing five errors defensively and the righty overcame all obstacles thrown at him.
Following a relief appearance from Ryan Carmack, Paxton Miller tossed four innings only allowing one earned run and was a bright spot for the Larks. Miller hit 92 on the gun numerous times for the Metro Area Ambulance Fastest Pitch.
One of Miller's four innings included a fantastic play by Larks first baseman, Derek Shoen, making a play reaching over the netting along the first base wall for the Fetzer Electric Play of the Game.ÃÂ
The Larks host the Stingers for one final game on Sunday afternoon for a 4:05 first pitch before the all-star break.
